Sean Penn Says His Oscar Joke Was Funny, Offended By Anyone Who Was Offended
- Funny

March 7, 2015 – When presenting director Alejandro Iñárritu with his Best Picture Oscar for Birdman, Sean Penn joked, “Who gave this son of a bitch his green card?”
The blowback came fast on Twitter, with celebs and civvies alike calling Penn a “racist.”
In response, Penn told the AP, “I’m always surprised by flagrant stupidity.” Adding, “I have absolutely no apologies… In fact, I have a big (expletive) you for anybody who is so stupid not to have gotten the irony when you’ve got a country that is so xenophobic.”
As for Iñárritu, he told the AP he enjoyed the joke. “I make on him a lot of very tough jokes that I will not tell you,” he said.
So, what say you? Was Penn’s joke funny or offensive? Vote now!
And great job Sean Penn. Ruining a fantastic moment with a green card "joke."

UPDATE: March 18, 2015 – Sean Penn went on Conan On TBS to explain his Oscar green card joke, calling out the “idiocracy” for using his remark to get friends on twitter — pretty much explaining why anyone tweets anything ever.
