Like, It Was Just A Mistake
September 12th, 2017 – It’s safe to say that Ted Cruz will never forget 9/11…2017. The conservative Texas senator gave Twitter something to trend after a late-night “like” from his account. It appeared that Cruz had liked a tweet from @SexuallPosts which featured a porn clip. And while the like didn’t stay up as long as Trump’s covfefe tweet, the jokes still came in faster than his social media team probably wanted.
Cruz has positioned himself a defender of Christian liberties and family values over the years. In 2007, his legal team filed a 76-page brief with the US Court of Appeals asking them to uphold a ban on the sale of dildos. “There is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one’s genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship,” his brief included.
Cruz’s Senior Communications Advisor Catherine Frazier got to work during the night attempting to explain the snafu to her Twitter followers.

Folks weren’t buying it, though, and quickly pointed out that it wasn’t something posted by the account but maybe just “liked” by the senator. This morning, Cruz himself said that a staffer had “inadvertently hit the like button.” “It was a staffing issue. And it was inadvertent, it was a mistake. It was not a deliberate act. We’re dealing with it internally, but it was a mistake. It was not malicious,” he continued.
Nevertheless, the jokes persisted.

I suppose we all have our own ways of remembering 9/11, but I was taken aback by Ted Cruz’s approach.

Liking a porn tweet is by far the least offensive, most normal thing Ted Cruz has ever done.
