Mike Huckabee Isn’t Laughing
March 19th, 2018 – Jim Carrey has sparked quite the Internet outrage after sharing a painting he made which appears to be of the current White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The actor posted the portrait on St. Patrick’s Day and added a caption that only added fuel to the fire.
“This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous,” he tweeted to his over 17 million followers.

A spokesperson for Carrey confirmed to The Independent that the comedian did paint the portrait but wouldn’t specify who the subject was.
“The sketch is by Jim Carrey. I can’t confirm the sketch is of Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” they said.
Carrey started painting about six years ago and has made no secret of his opinion of the current administration and the GOP officials who carry water for the president. Over the past year everyone from Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio to Devin Nunes and Paul Ryan have gotten the Carrey brush strokes. Those paintings also haven’t always called out the individual by name or been flattering – to say the least.

The GOP and WH have become sinister conclaves of souless traitors, liars and thieves – a gangrene we must remove so democracy can live. #killthebill pic.twitter.com/DzXdh68qVB

Rubio‘s agenda is clear. Keep taking millions from the NRA and wash the blood of innocent children off his hands. Apparently $3.3 million is the price of this politician’s soul. pic.twitter.com/wom4IrTfsj

This time around, Carrey has received plenty of vocal backlash as people accused him of being sexist, hateful, and going too far in attacking her faith. Leading that charge was none other than Sanders’ father. The former governor of Arkansas took to Twitter to slam the painting and the artist.
Pathetic BULLY, sexist, hater, bigot & “Christaphobe” @jimcarrey attacks @PressSec for her faith; what would be hypocritical Hollywood reaction if he called someone a “so-called Muslim” or “so-called Jew?” #classlessCarrey https://t.co/HCqHoER0Ru

He also tweeted this last year.
Why do people holding “Love Trumps Hate” signs look so mean? No love or joy on faces. Are they angry and unhappy or just constipated? #MAGA

The discussion continued with those who agreed with Huckabee while others argued that the portrait was similar to the style of any other political cartoon you would find in a newspaper.
This is just one more example of how Hollyweird empowers women! #JimCarrey is just doing his portion, right Jim? He’s a has been!!- Dhee G. https://t.co/2aAOfliXQw

Jim Carrey calls Sarah Sanders a so-called Christian and painted her as a monster. Oh please, this is a man who has literally not been relevant since Ace Ventura.
Sarah Sanders is a saint, a great person, & a true Christian. Jim Carrey is irrelevant, unfunny, & quite ugly. — Mike (@mike_Zollo) March 19, 2018
Great! Another attack on Christians and on women. Way to go Jim Carey https://t.co/XcDHYSYGIo

“How dare Jim Carrey paint an unflattering portrait of Sarah Huckabee Sanders?!” ask enraged Trump supporters, who are well-known for their distaste for personal attacks in politics. pic.twitter.com/zRvJxOdARq

Jim Carrey’s painting is right on the money. Sarah Sanders does not act Christlike. She is dishonest and arrogant. Her ugliness has nothing to do with physical appearance but eminates from within. Kudos, Sir.

So let me get this straight… Republicans support men who molest underage girls, harass women, pay off porn stars, ask women to have their baby, and want to lock up women without due process… But Jim Carrey drawing an unfavorable portrait is crossing the line. Unreal.

Kathy Griffin, who had her own trouble last year after releasing a photo of herself holding the severed head of Trump, spoke out in support of Carrey.
A) On the left is an image @JimCarrey tweeted on 1/30…right is the image of Sarah Sanders. His image of Sanders is not sexist – it’s his style of portraying people he believes aren’t acting in good faith. That he is being attacked for this is ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/uNq9pLsv6S

B) Our country is facing an opioid crisis, a healthcare crisis, massive income inequality and this is what Fox & Friends and others spent time on this morning? Seriously get a fucking grip.

C). I also want everyone to know that the day after my Trump image came out, @JimCarrey was one of the first people to call me to offer words of support. I’ll never forget it. But even if he didn’t, I would still stand up for him. What a ridiculous thing to be outraged about.

No comment yet from the White House, but Carrey did release another painting this morning.
