Jimmy Kimmel Asks Kids About Gay Marriage
June 30, 2015 – “How do I explain this to my kids?” is a common complaint heard by those opposing the recent the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage. In his show last night, Jimmy Kimmel noted that indeed it was a “fair question” and followed with “you wonder if children are sophisticated enough to wrap their heads around something like this.” Of course Kimmel was just lobbing that softball to himself, teeing up a video of random children being interviewed on the street in a segment called “kids explain gay marriage.”
The answers as seen in the video below (courtesy of ABC) range from sweet to hysterical. When is the right time to get married? According to one child, “in the afternoon,” while another said “when you’re pregnant.”
Not surprisingly, opponents of the Supreme Court decision are pointing to this video as Exhibit A in their argument against the ruling. According to those offended by the video, it proves their point that this shouldn’t even be on a child’s radar and that the video was obviously edited to back the host’s own personal opinion. One viewer commented “brain washing the youth, next they are going to be promoting having sex with animals.”
No Supreme Court ruling is going to make this an easy issue for America and people are quickly retreating to their respective corners over this video.
