April 19, 2016 – A grinning young man sits on his couch with a sly smile about to erupt as he looks down at his pixelated pants. That’s the image Kentucky Fried Chicken Australia gave followers for roughly one hour last Friday. Their online team posted a photo to Twitter with the caption “WARNING: #NSFW. Something hot and spicy is coming soon…” The young man in the KFC NSFW tweet was accompanied by a female friend who seems pretty excited to be reaching for something near his pixelated portion.

Twitter responded to KFC NSFW with booming responses ranging from sexist disgust to ballsy support to clever requests for them to #HoldTheSpecialSauce.

The tweet was deleted, but with plenty of screenshots taken it had plenty of life left in its spicy winged body. KFC Australia followed in the footsteps of many online voices and issued a follow-up tweet. But as many embarrassed and scolded people have learned, once you put a photo out there it stays. Even when you take it down, and even when you apologize for it.

When the time came to announce what hot and spicy item had arrived, The Colonel (or quite possibly just a re-focused social media director) decided to go with a more simple, raise no brows approach.
