Pitchforks Up: Limbaugh Says Lesbian Farmers Are Invading Rural America

Thanks, Obama
August 26th, 2016 – Conservative radio host, Rush Limbaugh, learned a thing or two about lesbians and passed his version of that information on to listeners. During the August 17th program, he spent the majority of the segment discussing a story he was sent about the Iowa LGBT Rural Summit, which is hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other federal and local agencies. Limbaugh classified it as “the latest Democratic scam.” He explained the summit series as an easy way for the LGBT community to get assistance from the government and then invade traditionally conservative red states.
“So here comes the Obama Regime with a bunch of federal money and they’re waving it around, and all you gotta do to get it is be a lesbian and want to be a farmer and they’ll set you up,” he said. “I’m like you; I never before in my life knew that lesbians wanted to be farmers.”
Conversely, the U.S. Department of Agriculture described the event as an opportunity to engage with LGBT rural communities. Their information page states that their intent was to inform attendees of programs and services that are in place to protect, promote and strengthen the LGBT rural communities.
“Issues ranging from rural housing loans, community facility grants and bullying will be discussed. Each series will also include a strong presence from local nonprofit organizations, sharing USDA’s dedication to serving LGBT rural America.”
Limbaugh continued to express concern saying he saw the event as catering to lesbians who will profit off the government and then be used to do its bidding, as opposed to providing resources to individuals in need who are already active members of the agricultural field.
“I never knew that lesbians wanted to get behind the horse and the plow and start burrowing. I never knew it. But apparently enough money can make it happen, and the objective here is to attack rural states,” he said. “They’re already attacking suburbs, and that has been made perfectly clear by what happened in Milwaukee. They’re going after every geographic region that is known to be largely conservative. They never stop, folks. They are constantly on the march.”
On Wednesday, the controversial host boasted to his listeners about how he had become the number one trending topic on Facebook over a week after his initial segment. He again asserted that the Obama administration is delivering an aggressive attack on rural communities and using lesbians as their weapons. “So what better way to make inroads into that than to dangle some money in front of some lesbians and say, ‘In order to get it, you gotta farm, gotta be farmers,'” he said.
Some people have defended the host saying his accusation could have real merit. They also reiterated that Limbaugh was not the source of the initial story. On the other end of the farm, there were those who labeled his comments as laughable and downplayed any alleged threat.
Rush Limbaugh is correct, btw, after work I head straight for the fields. Can’t stop won’t stop. https://t.co/rbhtOIyoEM
